Günümüzde pek çok tarihi özelliğe sahip yapıların özgün işlevlerini yitirmeleri sonucu farklı amaçlara hizmet etmek üzere yeniden işlevlendirildiği örneklerle karşılaşmaktayız. Bu çalışmada da Bilecik’te inşa edildiği dönemde jandarma, adliye ve cezaevi işleviyle yapılan ancak sonrasında işlevsiz kalan yapının günümüzde müze olarak işlevlendirme süreçleri oluşturmaktadır. Çalışmada tarihi yapının yeniden işlevlendirme süreçlerinde olumlu ve olumsuz yaklaşımlar incelenirken; mimari koruma alanında yasa, tüzük, yönetmelikler referans alınarak, işlev, süreç ve çevresel performans kriterleri değerlendirilmiştir. Araştırmanın verileri nitel araştırma yöntemi kullanılarak görüşme, gözlem, arşiv kayıtları ve doküman analizi yoluyla toplanmış, elde edilen veriler ışığında yapıya ait mimari çizimler yapılmıştır. Çalışmada, yeniden işlevlendirme süreçlerindeki müdahaleler incelenerek, tarihi yapının özgün değerlerinin ne ölçüde korunduğu tespit edilmeye çalışılmıştır. Yeni işlev sonrası yapının müdahaleleri iç mekanla ilişkilendirilerek, koruma alanında uluslararası geçerliliğe sahip yasa, tüzük, bildirgeler referans alınarak tarihi yapılarda özgün dokunun korunması adına belirlenen kriterler dikkate alınarak değerlendirilmiştir.
Today, we are facing examples of many historical structures that have lost their original functions and are re-functioned to serve different purposes as a result. In this work, it also forms the processes of functioning as a museum of the structure, which was performed by the police, court and prison function during the time it was built in Bilecik. The study examined positive and negative approaches in the processes of re-functioning the historic structure; referring to the laws, regulations, regulations in the field of architectural protection, the function, process and environmental performance criteria were evaluated. The data of the research is collected through interviews, observations, archive records and document analysis using the quality research method, the architectural drawings of the structure are made in the light of the obtained data. In the study, the investigation of the interventions in the re-functioning processes has been aimed at identifying the extent to which the original values of the historical structure are preserved. The interventions of the new post-functional structure are linked to the interior, the law, regulations, statutes of international validity in the field of protection are referred to and assessed by taking into account the criteria set for the protection of the original texture in the historic structures.

After the new function, the interventions of the building were evaluated by associating them with the interior, taking into account the internationally valid laws, regulations and declarations in the field of conservation, taking into account the criteria determined for the preservation of the original texture in historical buildings.
