Abstract:

This research aims to analyze the researches in Turkish related to values education in visual arts course in reference to publication year, publication type, distribution of theses according to universities, research topic, method, prominent values and main results with bibliometric analysis method. As a result of the scanning, a total of 24 data were reached, including 10 master's theses, 4 doctoral theses, 7 articles, 2 book chapters and 1 full text paper. It was seen that quantitative method; descriptive survey as research model; scales as data collection tool, descriptive analysis method in the analysis of researches was mostly used in researches. As a subject, studies that determine the views of visual arts lesson teachers about values education and reveal the contribution of values education to students in this direction are in the majority. It has been seen that the values of cooperation, respect, love, tolerance, responsibility, patriotism, justice and patience are mostly included in the researches. In addition to quantitative studies measuring the effectiveness of the subjects and activities determined in the visual arts course on values with experimental methods, qualitative studies examining the effect of the visual arts course on value acquisition are also substantial. When the studies are examined, especially the quantitative studies show that the activities applied to gain values give positive results because the visual arts lesson is more concrete and permanent than other lessons. This study presents a general viewpoint on how effective the values education embedded in visual arts education is or will be, especially on school-age children. Demonstrating the values gained or planned to be gained through visual arts education through experimental studies has a determining and guiding quality for the literature. However, when the results are examined, it is striking that the lack of academic studies on values education in the visual arts course.
