Özet:

The study analyzed the infrastructural facilities needs in Itesiwaju Local Government Area of Oyo State, Nigeria. multistage sampling technique was used to select 80 respondents in the study area, structured interview schedule were used to obtain the data for the study, with respect to objectives of the study which investigate infrastructural facilities needs of the respondents; level of needs of infrastructural facilities by the respondents; examine reasons for infrastructural facilities needs by the respondents in the study area. Data collected were analyzed using frequency distribution, percentages and mean scores as descriptive statistical tools; while chi-square was used as inferential statistical tool. The findings revealed that majority (60.0%) of the respondents were male while female were (40%), most of the respondents were married (62.5%) and they were educated 78.7%, while only 21.3% did not have formal education. The infrastructural facilities identified by the respondents include good road network, (100.0%), electricity (98.8%), schools (100.0%), health care centre (100.0%), portable water (90.0%), communication facility (88.8%) and others such as crop storage facilities, agro-allied centre’s and financial institutions. There were significant relationship between infrastructure needs and sex-(x2=3.84) age-(x2=43.77) education-(x2=16.63) primary occupation-(x2=175.30) at 0.05 level of significance. The study therefore recommends that infrastructural facilities indicated should be provided in the area in other to improve the standard of living and to ensure its adequate maintenance for sustainability of rural population and agricultural production improvement that would grants the rural populace the means to be food secure through extension services. This is the main goal of agricultural transformation agenda facilitated and financed by Federal Government of Nigeria through Federal and State Ministry of Agriculture.
