Abstract:

In this study, the topic of rural rooms that appear as a field of social and cultural identities in the Turkish cultural life was addressed. These rooms, which continue to exist in the village of Cinis in the province of Erzurum and formed in the form of public architecture, carry the same characteristics as houses such as the wound room, the boy organization, the man room. In this context, eril rooms also have important functions as public spaces in rural areas where the tradition dominates, where they feel like they belong to a place and are equipped with values. In the public open houses referred to by the name of the area, the needs of the room are arranged according to the principle of assistance that arises in the form of the imce and herphene. Participation in the room and taking responsibilities related to the room are formed according to the essence of volunteering in this structure, the feelings of unity, cohesion and courtesy are fed by the understanding of alienation and fituvity belonging to the Turkish community structure. In addition, the attachment to the rooms is established in the strongest way in the religious framework in these rooms. In this study, our goal is not to test a general hypothesis, but rather to try to understand people’s experiences and how they understand these experiences. In doing so, the information about the speech rooms was obtained with certain persons, in the natural flow of verbal interaction, without being linked to a precise conversation protocol; in part, in the speech atmosphere, by means of a semi-configured conversation technique.
