Memlükler döneminde (648-923/1250-1517) İslamî ilimlerin muhtelif dallarındaki yoğun yazın faaliyeti, tarih ve siyer yazıcılığında da kendini göstermektedir. Bu eserlerin bazısı, siyerin her konusunu ele almış, bir kısmı oldukça hacimli eserler ortaya koymuş, kimi de bir kitabın bölümü olarak yahut şemâil, delâil ve hasâis türüne dair müstakil eserler kaleme almıştır. Yine bu dönemin siyer yazıcılığında dikkat çeken bir özelliği de yoğun şerh faaliyetinin sürdürülmüş olmasıdır. Ayrıca siyer telif geleneğinin önemli bir yazım türü muhtasarlardır. Bu çalışmada, Memlükler döneminde yazılan muhtasar siyer eserlerine dikkat çekmek amacıyla, dönemin önemli tarihçilerinden İbn Kesîr’in el-Fuṣûl fî sîreti’r-Resûl adlı muhtasar siyeri ele alınmıştır. Kronolojik siyer anlatımının yanı sıra hasâis, şemâil ve kısa da olsa delâil konularını da içeren bu muhtasar siyer kitabı, ilim adamlarının yanı sıra halkın da anlayacağı dilde sade bir üslupla kaleme alınmıştır. Daha çok hadis kaynaklarına dayanılarak kaleme alınmış olan bu eserde, farklı ilim dallarına ait pek çok eserden de istifade edilmiştir. Muhtasar olmasına rağmen siyerin pek çok konusunu ele alan bu eser, konumu, kaynakları, muhtevası ve usulü şeklinde dört başlık altında incelenmiştir.
The intense literary activity in different branches of Islamic sciences seen in the Mamluk period (648-923/1250-1517) is also apparent in writings of history and sirah. Some of these have studied all aspects of the sirah, some have composed very sizable works, and some others—either as part of a book or as standalone works—have written on shamāil, dalāil, and khasāis. Also notable in the sirah studies of this period is the intense commentary efforts. An important type of literature of the sirah tradition are the muhktasars. To attract attention to the mukhtasar sirah studies in the Mamluk period, this study covers a mukhtasar written by the important historian of the time Ibn Kathir called al-Fuṣûl fî sîrati’r-Rasûl. In addition to the chronological narration, it also includes the topics of khasāis, shamāil and dalāil, albeit briefly. It was written in a simple style in a language that the public as well as the world of science will understand. In this work, which was written mostly based on hadith sources, many works belonging to different branches of science have been used. Although it is concise, this work, which deals with many issues of sirah, has been examined under four titles in terms of location, sources, content and method.
