Vatandaş gazeteciliğinin yerel boyutunu ifade etmek için kullanılan hiper yerel gazetecilik, yerel medyaya yeni bir bakış getirmiştir. Hiper yerel gazetecilik; küçük kasaba veya mahallede, toplulukların haberlerinin vatandaşlarca bir medya kuruluşu bünyesinde aktarıldığı gazetecilik türüdür. Hiper yerel gazetecilikte yerel halk, haberin kaynağı olmanın dışında haberi üretip yayınlayabilmektedir. Hiper yerel gazeteciliği diğer yerel gazetecilik yapılarından ayıran en temel özelliklerinden biri de pozitif haber üretimidir. Hiper yerel gazetecilik özellikle okuyucu ile medya arasındaki ilişkinin yeniden kuvvetlenmesi ve sürdürülebilir hale gelmesi için umut vadeden bir model olarak karşımıza çıkmaktadır. Medyada kendisine yer bulamayan küçük topluluklara ulaşılması, muhabirlerin ulaşamayacağı noktalarda yeni bir haber ağı oluşturulması ve haber ağının genişletilmesine önemli bir katkı sağlamaktadır. Bu çalışmanın amacı, hiper yerel gazeteciliğin yerel basına getireceği olumlu olumsuz yönleri betimlemektir. Çalışmada Adana yerel basını örneklem olarak alınmıştır. Yarı yapılandırılmış görüşme yöntemi kullanılarak nitel bir çalışma gerçekleştirilmiştir. Araştırmada hiper yerel gazeteciliğin haber içeriklerini çeşitlendireceği, tirajı arttıracağı, vatandaş haberciliğinin daha sistemli hale geleceği ve bütün bunların yerel basın için önemli katkılar sağlayacağı sonucuna ulaşılmıştır. Araştırmadan çıkan diğer bir sonuç ise bu olumlu katkıların olabilmesi için öncelikle okurlara eğitim verilmesi, okurdan gelen haber için ayrı bir editörün bulunması ve bunun için ekonomik desteğin gerekliliğidir.
Hyperlocal journalism that was the first used in 2004 is a type of journalism in which the news of communities in a small town or neighborhood is conveyed by citizens within a media outlet. In hyperlocal journalism, local people can produce and broadcast news as well as being the source of the news. One of the main features of hyperlocal journalism differentiates from local media is positive news production. Hyperlocal journalism is a promising model to the relationship between readers and media. Reaching small communities that cannot find a place in the media contributes to the formation of a new news network and to the expansion. The aim of the study is to describe positive and negative aspects of hyperlocal journalism to the local press. Adana local press is taken as a sample in the study. Qualitative research is conducted using the semi-structured interview method. In the research, it is concluded that hyperlocal journalism would diversify the news content, increase the circulation, citizen journalism would become more systematic, and all these would make significant contributions to the local press. Another result of the research is that in order to make these positive contributions, first of all, the readers should be educated, and economic support is needed for this.
