The aim of this study is to reveal the role of South Marmara Region Development Agency (GMKA) in providing the tourism values of the region and their sustainability. In the study, firstly the terms, development, regional development and development agencies have been explained and historical process of development agencies, their foundation aims, and the effect of regional development agencies on sustainable regional tourism have been examined taking the GMKA sample into consideration. In the study, sample case design, which is one of the qualitative research designs, has been used. The data consist of the tourism projects to which GMKA gave support between the years 2010 and 2013 and involve the analysis of the tourism Project outputs between the years 2010 and 2012. Moreover, the tourism projects to which GMKA gave financial support and the institutions which got support in 2013 have been investigated. After the tourism projects to which GMKA gave financial support in the region, it has been concluded that GMKA supported the trainings, contributed to the renewal of the touristic facilities, supported mainly the public projects among the projects devoted to the tourism sector in order to provide employment in the tourism sector, to bring in new fields to tourism, and to train qualified labor force for the tourism sector
