Bu çalışmada 19. yüzyıl ile 20. yüzyıl başlarında Bayramiç’in idari, nüfus ve özellikle eğitim yapısı ele alınarak kaza hakkında genel bir çerçeve çizilmek istenmektedir. Araştırmada tarihsel yöntem kullanılmış ve veri toplama tekniği olarak doküman incelemesi seçilmiştir. Günümüzde Çanakkale ilinin bir ilçesi olan Bayramiç, 1357’den sonra Osmanlı yönetimine geçmiştir. 1888-1889’dan itibaren müstakil hale getirilen Biga sancağı Ezine kazasına bağlı nahiye durumunda olan ilçe, 3 Şubat 1902 tarihinde padişahın iradesi alınarak nahiyeden kazaya tahvil edilmiştir. 1831’de Bayramiç kazası erkek nüfusu 3327’dir. 1876’da ise bu nüfus sayısı 6636’ya yükselmiştir. Bayramiç’te eğitim kurumlarına da önem verilmiştir. Tarihi süreçte ilçede Ahi Hızır, Cami-i Cedid ve Cami-i Kebir/Cami-i Atik isimlerinde üç medrese, çeşitli sıbyan ve ibtidai mektepleri, bir adet rüşdiye mektebi, bir adet Rum mektebi, 1 adet ana mektep (?) bulunduğu tespit edilmiştir.

In the historical process, it was determined that there were three madrasahs named Ahi Hızır, Cami-i Cedid and Cami-i Kebir/ Cami-i Atik, various primary and secondary schools, a rushdiye school, a Greek school and a kindergarten (?).
