The digital revolution, especially mobile internet, is radically changing the business world and working life. In the face of this new technological change, labor unions, which want to continue their existence effectively, adapt their mission and vision to changing conditions. In order to adapt quickly to digital change, German Trade Unions not only digitize their communication tools, but also organize in-house current digital training programs for their personnel and union members in line with a lifelong education approach. In collective agreements, the German Trade Unions don’t make any concessions to their achievements in the interest of workers with regard to labour standards at the work-place. Moreover, they don’t oppose the digital transformation in working life, but play an active role, for example, in the digitalisation of work processes in the interests of workers. In this context, this article examines the new roles of German trade unions in the digitalized business world. The aim of the article is to help Turkish Trade Union activities to determine their new position in the digitalization process through the example of Germany. In this context, Turkish Trade Unions were advised for example to offer training in the field of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) within the framework of social dialogue in order not to jeopardise the employment of their members in the future.
