Bütçe açığı ve cari açık gelişmiş ve gelişmekte olan ülkelerin yaşadıkları ekonomik problemlerin temel belirleyicileri arasında yer almakla birlikte ilgili makroekonomik değişkenlerin arasında bir ilişki olup olmadığı sıkça tartışma konusu yapılmaktadır. Bu çalışma kapsamında Türkiye için bütçe açığı ile cari açık arasında nedensellik ilişkisi ve varsa nedenselliğin yönü araştırılmıştır. Söz konusu ilişki 1975-2017 dönemi yıllık veri seti kullanılarak Hacker ve Hatemi-J (2006) Bootstrap nedensellik testi ve zamanla değişen nedensellik testi kullanılarak analiz edilmiştir. Sonuç olarak, 1980-2008 döneminde değişkenler arasında çift yönlü nedensellik ilişkisi bulunmakla birlikte ilgili dönemin öncesi ve sonrasında cari açıktan bütçe açığına doğru bir ilişkinin varlığı tespit edilmiştir.
The budget gap and charity are among the main determiners of the economic problems that developed and developing countries are experiencing, but there is often a question of whether there is a relationship between the relevant macroeconomic variables. In the context of this study, the reasoning relationship between the budget gap for Turkey and the currency gap and if there is the reasoning direction have been investigated. The relationship in question was analyzed using an annual data set for the period 1975-2017 by using the Hacker and Hatemi-J (2006) Bootstrap causality test and the time-changing causality test. As a result, in the period 1980-2008 there was a double-directional causal relationship between the variables, but the existence of a relationship between the prior and subsequent period and the budget gap was established.
While budget deficit and current account deficit are among the main determinants of the economic problems experienced by both developed and developing countries, it is frequently discussed whether there is a relationship between the related macroeconomic variables. In this study, causal relationship between budget and current account deficit and the direction of causality, if any were investigated for Turkey. This relationship was analyzed using Hacker and Hatemi-J (2006) Bootstrap causality test using a time-varying causality test using the 1975-2017 period data set. As a result, although there is a bidirectional causality relationship between the variables during the 1980-2008 period, there is a relationship between the current deficit and the budget deficit before and after the relevant period.
