Identification of deceased, determination of postmortem interval, cause and origin of death andcollecting evidences on medicolegal deaths are very important for solution of forensic cases. In thisstudy 367 postmortem examination cases which were performed at Pamukkale University Faculty ofMedicine Department of Legal Medicine were included. Age, gender, cause and origin of death andthe postmortem process performed were evaluated. Two hundred seventy seven of the cases in thestudy were male and 90 were female. The mean age of the cases was 38,5 ± 19,9 (Range 0-95). Themost frequent origin of death was accident. Crime scene investigations were performed by forensicmedicine specialists in %26 of cases. The postmortem examination requiring graduated knowledgeand experience should be performed by forensic medicine specialist. The forensic medicine specialistshould join to crime scene investigation if possible.
