Bu yapılan araştırmada, ortaokul sosyal bilgiler dersi içeriğinin öğrencileri lise coğrafya dersinin öğretimine hazırlama durumu öğretmen görüşleri baz alınarak incelenmiştir. Araştırma konumuzla ilgili olarak; Samsun iline bağlı olan İlkadım, Atakum ve Canik ilçelerinde ve 2017-2018 eğitim öğretim yılında Millî Eğitim Bakanlığına bağlı ortaokul ve liselerde görev yapan 46 öğretmen ile yarı yapılandırılmış görüşme tekniği çerçevesinde görüşmeler gerçekleştirilmiştir. Çalışma grubu oluşturulurken örneklem oluşturma yöntemlerinden maksimum çeşitlilik yöntemi kullanılarak veriler elde edilmiştir. Sosyal bilgiler ve coğrafya dersi öğretmenlerinin araştırma konumuzla ilgili görüşlerini belirlemek için hazırlanan görüşme formundaki sorulara, sosyal bilgiler ve coğrafya öğretimcisi iki alan uzmanın da görüşlerine başvurularak son şekli verilmiştir. Görüşme sorularına verilen cevaplar içerik analizi yöntemi ile değerlendirilerek çeşitli sonuçlara ulaşılmıştır. Bu çalışmada; sosyal bilgiler ders içeriğinin coğrafya alanında konu eksiklilerinin bulunduğu ve 8. sınıfta coğrafya içerikli bir dersin bulunmamasının öğrencilerin coğrafya bilgilerinde gerileme yaşanmasına sebep olduğu çalışmanın en önemli sonuçlarından biri olmuştur. Ayrıca sosyal bilgiler dersinin yerine tarih ve coğrafya derslerinin olması gerektiği çalışmaya katılan öğretmenlerin büyük bölümünün önerisidir. Bu çalışmanın hem sosyal bilgiler ders eğitimi hem de coğrafya ders eğitimi alanlarında yapılacak olan farklı çalışmalara kaynaklık yapacağı düşünülebilir.
In this study, the high school social information course content was studied on the basis of the teacher’s views of the state of preparation for the teaching of the high school geography course. In relation to our research topic; in the Primadim, Atakum and Canik districts related to Samsun and in the 2017-2018 educational year, 46 teachers who work in the high school and high school related to the Ministry of Education have been conducted in the framework of semi-configured conversation technique. The data was obtained using the maximum diversity method from the methods of sample creation when the work group was created. The questions in the interview form prepared to determine the opinions of the teachers of social information and geography course on our research subject, social information and geography teachers have been given the final form by applying to the opinions of the two fields of experts. The answers to the interview questions were evaluated by the method of content analysis and achieved various results. In this study, social information was one of the most important outcomes of the study that there were lack of subject in the field of geography and the absence of a class with geography in the 8th grade caused a decline in geography knowledge of students. Social information is also a suggestion of the majority of teachers who participate in the study that history and geography courses should be in place of the social information course. This study may be considered to be a source of various studies that will be conducted in both social information coursework and geography coursework.
In this research, the situation of creating an awareness about geography with the help of social studies in secondary schools is investigated within the frame of the main problem, which is the preparation of students for the geography classes in high schools, by the social studies curriculum of secondary schools. Semi-structured interviews were had with 46 secondary school and high school teachers who were currently on-duty at state schools in 2017-2018 Academic year in the districts of Ilkadim, Canik and Atakum of the city of Samsun. Maximum diversity of sample creation methods was used in the study group. The questions in the interview form prepared to determine the opinions of teachers about our research topic were finalized by referring to the opinions of two experts in social studies and geography teaching. The answers given to the interview questions were evaluated with the content analysis method and various results were reached. Various conclusions have been reached thanks to these interviews by analysing the data obtained. Social studies and geography teachers described their opinions about the main, sub problem sentences, and proposed some suggestions about the current situation and the necessary arrangements. In this study, most important conclusions reached are as the following; the content of social studies lessons lacks of necessary geographical topics, the content order is not enough, the lack of a geography lesson for the 8th grades causes a recession for students in this field and social studies lesson might be replaced by history and geography lessons. It is anticipated that this research will be a resource for various studies in the field of social studies.
