Instructional materials are one of the most important elements of the learning-teaching process. The main aim is to facilitate the learning process and make it easier by starting from the immediate environment and from the more concrete, in other words from the better known towards the unknown. There are many teaching materials that will serve this purpose while teaching of Religion Culture and Moral Education Courses (DKAB). One of these materials are mind maps. When the relevant literature is researched, it has been seen that the number of studies done by the technique of mind maps in the field of Religion Culture and Moral Knowledge is limited. Hence, the present study introduces mind maps, as a suitable material for teaching religion culture and moral information, and discusses the education purpose and functions they serve as well as the advantages and limitations. Moreover, the use of mind maps in other relevant studies along their sample for religious culture and moral education are also presented. Consequently, mind maps are considered to be effective materials in religious culture and moral education courses.
