Abstract:

The rich archive material remaining from the Ottoman State to the present day will not help the researchers, in the same proportion, for every subject. In the beginning of these matters, Harem and Harem members are the lives of women. It is quite difficult to tell the palace women, from the archive material that can be counted, the palace women in a period or a palace woman in Ottoman. It is a question of who the women living in the Ottoman Harem, apart from the outside world, are and how they spend their lives. In fact, the archive material that comes out in the light of the day is very valuable for researchers. There is also very little information about the life of Gülbahar Hatun, the subject of this study. In general, those known about Gülbahar Hatun, Fatih Sultan Mehmed's wife and II. Beyond being the mother of Bayezid, he is a carrier. We know Gülbahar Hatun more through the foundation works and letters he wrote to his son. Most of the information about his personality is based on two letters that have come to us today. A new letter from the President of the State Archives has recently been added to these letters. In this article, the current literature has been reviewed and in light of new documents, the life and personality of Gülbahar Hatun has been discussed. The aim of the study is to contribute to the current literature on the life and personality of Gülbahar Hatun, which has been widely studied so far.
