Recent studies indicate that sole “Intelligence Quotient” is not sufficient; more than the80% of success in the professional life and happiness in personal life takes its roots from "Emotional Intelligence ". Emotional intelligence, which is categorized into four main dimensions as self-awareness, self-management, social awareness and social relationships management, has been deeply examined in leadership studies. In this study with an aim to investigate the effects of emotional intelligence on leadership behaviors, data collected from 60 managers of foreign origined financial consultancy and audit firms are submitted to statistical analysis. First, the findings highlight the importance of social skills and communication for managers by demonstrating a strong relationship between emotional intelligence and transactional management. Moreover the findings also provide empirical evidence in support of the relationship between emotional intelligence and motivation based on idealized effect dimension of transformational leadership. This result addresses the fact that transformational leaders, that are particularly required in crisis and change periods, by using their emotional intelligence can inspire and motivate their followers towards change.
