Afyonkarahisar Müzesinden Kybele Figürin Grubu

Abstract:

Günümüzde Afyonkarahisar Müzesi deposunda korunan 10027 envanter no.lu Kybele figürini grubu köklerini, Boğazköy Kybele heykel grubundan (MÖ 6. yüzyıl) alan ünik bir örnek olarak karşımıza çıkar. İkonografik bağlamda alışagelmiş Kybele tasvirlerinin dışına çıkan Afyonkarahisar Müzesi Kybele figürin grubu şüphesiz üzerine sınırlı bilgi bulunan Phrygia Mater kült pratiklerine ilişkin ipuçları taşımaktadır. Figürin grubunun işaret ettiği bir diğer önemli nokta, Phryg’lerin önce Makedon ardından Roma hakimiyeti döneminde kültürel anlamda geri çekilmiş olmasına karşın etnik kimliklerini koruduklarını göstermesidir. Afyonkarahisar Müzesi Kybele figürin grubu Phrygia’da MS 1.–2. yüzyılda yerel unsurlara bağlı kalarak üretim yapan koroplastik atölyelerin varlığını devam ettirdiğini işaret eder.

Kybele Figurine Group From Afyonkarahisar Museum
2022

Abstract:

The Kybele figure group with inventory number 10027, which is preserved in the warehouse of Afyonkarahisar Museum today, appears as a unique Kybele depiction that takes its roots from the Boğazköy Kybele sculpture group (6th century BC). The group of Kybele figures in the Afyonkarahisar Museum, which goes beyond the usual depictions of Kybele in the iconographic context, undoubtedly carries important clues about the Phrygia Mater cult practices, on which there is limited information. Another important point is that it shows that the Phrygians retained their ethnic identity despite the fact that they retreated culturally during the Macedonian and then Roman domination. The group of Kybele figures from the Afyonkarahisar Museum indicates that in the 1st century AD in Phrygia, coroplastic workshops that made production by adhering to local elements continued to exist.
