The aim of this study is to determine how gender roles are included in the texts and visuals in Social Studies textbooks. The research was carried out by making document analysis, one of the qualitative research methods. For this purpose, the primary school 4th grade Social Studies textbook was examined in the context of gender roles. As a document in the study, it was accepted as a textbook for five years starting from the 2018-2019 academic year, with the decision of the Ministry of National Education Board of Education and Discipline dated 28 May 2018 and numbered 78. Primary School 4th Grade Social Studies Textbook was examined. Descriptive Analysis method was used to determine gender roles in the text and images in the book. There are 234 photographs of people in the book, and 555 images in these photographs are attributed to gender-specific roles. The visuals in the book were realized through texts related to the visuals, and as a result, it was seen that gender-specific roles took place under three headings: "out-of-home roles", "occupational roles", and "domestic roles". In addition, in the interviews with 6 teachers, 3 women and 3 men, who have read the course book, Dairy studies were conducted for their successful roles in the Primary School 4th Grade Information Course. In the study, the male figure is given more place than the female figure in the 4th grade Social Studies textbook, women are given more space in domestic roles and men are given more space in out-of-home roles, men are attributed more occupations than women, women are more active in domestic work than men.
