Özet:

The aim of this research is to compare the communication anxiety levels of the students studying at Gümüşhane University in terms of the sport variable by examining the perceived socialization levels in online environments. While the population of the research consists of students studying at Gümüşhane University, the sample group consists of a total of 314 students, 152 male and 162 female. The "Personal Information Form" was created by the researchers in order to determine the demographic characteristics of the participants in the study, and it was developed by McCroskey (1982) to determine the communication anxiety; The "Communication Anxiety Scale" consisting of 24 items and 4 sub-dimensions of 5-point Likert Type adapted into Turkish by Çakmak (2015) was used. The scale consisting of 10 items and a single sub-dimension, developed by Kreijns et al. (2007) and adapted into Turkish by Bardakçı (2010), was used to determine students' online perceived socialization levels. In the research, descriptive test to determine the demographic characteristics of the participants; T-Test for independent variables to compare communication anxiety and perceived socialization levels according to gender, do you do sports and the type of sport you do; One Way Anova Test was applied in comparison of age, class and daily internet usage time. When comparing the communication anxiety and perceived socialization scores of the participants according to gender, sport, age classification, class and department variable, no significant differences were found between the groups (p>0.05). No significant relationship was found between communication anxiety and perceived socialization scale scores of university students (p>0.05). According to the analysis, it was determined that female students had higher group communication anxiety sub-dimension levels compared to male students and there was a significant difference between them (p<0.05). As a result, it can be said that communication concerns of university students do not affect their perceived socialization levels, and that variables such as sports, age and faculty do not affect communication and perceived socialization.
