This work is based on five life stories of women deprived of their liberty, and analyses, through a ethnographic methodology, the different types of structural violence they have suffered up to the moment they enter to prison. To this end, five semi-directed interviews were carried out, with the aim of reflecting on the relationship between suffering structural violence throughout their lives and being forced to commit crime which sometimes are forced by the social and cultural context of their lives and, at other times, by people around them. The results obtained reflect that the exclusion and social vulnerability violence, addictions and subordination to romantic love’ idea, have been factors that have influenced the future of these women. To conclude, the autobiographical narratives of imprisoned women are highlighted, showing us their realities as an oppressed and violent group, the result of the structural violence experienced both inside and outside prison.
