Abstract: This study aims to improve the skills of writing traditional drama scripts. The problem found during this research is the lack of ability in writing the traditional drama of the students of class VIII-F of SMP Negeri 1 Glagah. This research employed Classroom Action Research method and modeled after Kemmis and McTaggart model. This research was conducted for two cycles. Observation notes, interviews, documentation, and questionnaire as data sources. This research used the Joyful strategy and Menara Garasi. The students’ scores improved from first cycle 62,7 to second cycle 82,6. The joyful strategy improved students' ability to write traditional drama from the process and the final result.
