In this study, we will discuss two films of Dagur Kari from Iceland, the island country in the most isolated position within the northern countries. The social structure of Iceland, which has a very advanced and active cinema industry compared to a small island country, will be studied in the context of the sagas that have an important place in the country’s history and the spiritual beliefs that are effective in the social life. The characters and the use of space in Kari's films will be analyzed in the framework of the parallels established between these characteristics of social structure and the philosophy of existence. The aim of this study is to re-definish the general characteristics of the Scandinavian cinema through the films that are studied, and to re-definish the effects of the social structure on the aesthetics of the cinema and the way of narration, with the example of Iceland.
