Emre Kongar’ın tek romanı olan Hocaefendi’nin Sandukası postmodern yazım tekniklerinin kullanıldığı postmodern tarihsel bir romandır. Eserde Fatih Sultan Mehmet’in İstanbul’u fethinden sonra başlayıp Sultan’ın ölümüne kadar geçen dönemde yaşanmış iktidarı ele geçirmek için gerçekleştirilen eylemler anlatılır. Bu eylemler arasında özellikle medreselerin yapısını bozmak, hür düşünceyi engellemek gelir. Yazar bu eylemleri aynı zamanda kendi çağının sosyal ve siyasal olaylarına göndermeler yapmak için kullanır. Bu yönüyle müstakil bir tarih kitabı ya da edebi bir eser olan roman yazmaktan ziyade tarihi ve romanı bir araç olarak kullanıp kendi düşüncesini tarihi roman formatında okuyucusu ile paylaşır. Yazar, bu tür iktidarı ele geçirmeye dönük eylemlerin yanı sıra diğer tarihsel olaylara, ilgili dönemdeki düşünce akımlarına ve Hurufilik gibi anlayışlara yer verir. Tarih ile romanın, gerçek ile kurmacının birbiri içine girdiği bu türden metinlerde anlam örtük bir hale gelir. Çalışmamızda tarih yazımı ve tarihsel roman kavramları üzerinden hareketle gerçek ile kurmaca arasındaki ilişki ele alınacaktır. Bu kapsamda postmodern tarihsel roman olarak değerlendirilen Hocaefendi’nin Sandukası romanı gerçek ile kurmacanın harmanlandığı örnek bir anlatı olarak değerlendirilecektir.
