The Cold War XX. Although it has ended to the end of the century, the words that don’t look for that period in the Baltic geography are sometimes busy the public agenda. During the Cold War, the boundaries of the existing blocks crossed the Baltic geography. Therefore, it was among the areas where the highest chance of hot conflict was. Today, because of energy, economic and commercial concerns, the Baltic geography continues its attractiveness for the parties interested in the region. Estonia is also located in the northern part of the Baltic geography along with Latvia and Lithuania. However, the Estonian people generally do not accept a common Baltic identity. Instead, the Finnish people are emphasized on relativity or the Estonian identity is asked to be brought to the forefront. The development of Estonian national identity and the struggle for independence and the current foreign policy preferences of Estonia have been the main objective of this article.
