The aim of the research is to examine the attitude towards STEM (science, technology, engineering, mathematics) and problem solving skills of primary school 3rd and 4th grade students according to grade level and gender. The sample of the study consists of 344 students who are studying in the 3rd and 4th grades of primary school in Kartal district of Istanbul. The research was carried out with correlational survey model which was one of the quantitative research methods. STEM Attitude Scale and Problem Solving Inventory for Children were used as data collection tools in the study. According to the grade level results obtained from the research it was determined that 4th grade students’ attitudes towards STEM and science and mathematics in which STEM sub-dimensions were high. In addition, it was determined that there was no significant difference in problem solving skills and sub-dimensions at the grade level. The results of the research according to gender while it was determined that there was no difference in attitudes towards STEM, it was determined that there was a significant difference in STEM sub-dimensions in favor of the attitudes of male students towards engineering. It was determined that there was no significant difference in problem solving skills and sub-dimensions according to gender.
