The economy, which was based on agriculture, small handicrafts and the trade of the products obtained from them until the 18th century, was restructured together with the Industrial Revolution, mainly from agricultural production relations to industrial production relations and mechanization. With the effects of globalization, industrial zones started to form due to increasing industrialization and trade volume. In this context, purpose of the study is to analyse OIZs economic and spatial dimensions in their historical development process, to reveal how they developed, whether the OIZs supply met the industrial demand and which sectoral agglomeration existed in the provinces. In this respect, the method of the study is to do literature review on the subject, to obtain the data and statistics from the Turkish Republic Ministry of Industry and Technology and Turkish Republic Ministry of Industry and Trade-Abolished and Turkish Republic Ministry of Science, Industry and Technology-Abolished, digital mapping of the collected data and to make comparisons and evaluations especially on yearly basis. As a result; OIZs allow the accumulation of sectors in some regions especially while responding to the demand of the industrial sector by developing in spatial and economic terms with the given incentives and the implemented plans and policies in the historical development process. Although there are incentives and supports given in addition to the implemented plans and policies, over the years, the industrial sector has got more demand for the western parts than for eastern parts of the country. The noteworthy point here is especially in Marmara Region, due to the demand of industrial sector and the development of the sector, a growth pole has been formed.
