Meslek seçimi bireyin hayatında önemli bir yer işgal etmektedir. Meslek seçiminde birçok faktör etkilidir. Meslek seçiminde önem arz eden bu faktörlerden biri de toplumsal cinsiyet rolüdür. Türkiye’de bazı mesleklerin sadece erkekler bazılarının ise sadece kadınlar tarafından yapılacağına ilişkin bir inanç bulunmaktadır. Bu araştırmanın amacı, meslek seçiminde toplumsal cinsiyet rollerinin ne kadar etkili olduğunu ortaya çıkarmaktır. Çalışmanın evrenini 2019-20 eğitim-öğretim yılında öğrenim gören Samsun Meslek Yüksek Okulu öğrencileri oluşturmaktadır. Araştırma evreninden yeterli sayıda tesadüfi örnekleme yöntemiyle seçilen 500 öğrenci örneklemi oluşturmaktadır. Araştırmada Gökçen ve Kavas Büyükgöze (2018) tarafından geliştirilen “Meslek Seçiminde Toplumsal Cinsiyetin Rolü Ölçeği” kullanılmıştır. Ölçek öğrencilere uygulanmadan önce Doğrulayıcı Faktör Analizi yapılmış ve söz konusu yapıyı ölçmede geçerli ve güvenilir bulunmuştur. Verilerin çözümlenmesinde parametrik testler kullanılmıştır. Araştırma bulgularına göre, öğrencilerin eşitlikçi toplumsal cinsiyet rollerini benimsedikleri, ikinci sınıfların birinci sınıflara göre eşitlikçi cinsiyet rollerini daha yüksek oranda benimsemiş oldukları görülmüştür. Öğrencilerin toplumsal cinsiyet rollerine ilişkin görüşlerinin cinsiyet, sınıf ve bölüm değişkenlerine göre farklılık gösterdiği bulgularına ulaşılmıştır.
Choosing a profession occupies an important place in an individual's life. Although many factors are effective in choosing a profession, one of them is gender roles. Some professions in Turkey only if some of the men there is a belief that only done by women. The aim of this study is to reveal the effect of gender roles in the choice of profession. The population of the study consists of Samsun Vocational High School students studying in 2019-20 academic year. The sample consisted of 500 randomly selected students. 'The Role of Gender in the Choice of Profession Scale' used in the study was developed by Gökçen and Kavas Büyükgöze (2018). Confirmatory Factor Analysis is performed before the scale was applied to the students and it is found to be valid and reliable in measuring the structure in question. Parametric tests are used to analyze the data. According to the findings of the research, it is seen that students adopt egalitarian gender roles and second grade students have higher egalitarian roles than first grade students. It is found out that the opinions of the students on gender roles differed according to gender, class and department variables. It is recommended to provide information on non-gender discrimination at every education level.
