Abstract:

Unemployment is the main problem in developed and developing countries, because the unemployment rates are high and the economic indicators of countries that do not create employment are deteriorating, the society’s purchasing power is decreasing and poverty is increasing. This can result in social, economic and psychological problems in society. This is why it increases the importance of employment policies to be implemented in the fight against unemployment. The increase in unemployment rates is of great importance. If the rate of population growth is excessive and the country’s economy does not create employment compared to the population, the number of unemployed people is increasing, the average population growth in Turkey between 1975-1980 years was 20,7, 1980-1985 years 24,9, 1985-1990 years 21,7, 1990-2000 years 18,3 years. In 2007, a new method was passed to the Address-Based Population Register System, which was abandoned by the ordinary form of population counting. From this date, the demographic data has begun to be published by TIK monthly or annually according to the type. In this context, the average annual population growth rate in 2008 was 15 thousand in 2010. The aim of this study is to analyze and evaluate the employment level and unemployment rates in Turkey between 1998 and 2018, taking into account the increase in the country’s population. In the assessments made, we analyze that the annual employment figures in our country are low compared to the population growth figures and that the employment opportunities provided to the growing population are not sufficient, so the unemployment rates and the number are increased.
