From the times in which the cities emerged to the present day, many causes of war and natural disasters have been destroyed. This has led to changes in the structures of the cities, and the new period of urban forms has become the present. Within the last century, different developments have emerged that have affected the cities outside of war and natural disasters, and the cities have begun to experience new developments within themselves. These developments include the rapid growth of urbanization, the difficulties in preserving environmental values, the excessive impact of migration cases on all countries and the impact of globalization to the smallest settlements in the world. While cities in our country are trying to find a new way for themselves under the pressure of all these processes, especially the urban transformation subject that has been intense since the beginning of the 2000s has made the urban structures even more complex. In this sense, the urban transformation phenomenon that emerged as a Western experience has also found a place of application in various times and places in Turkey. Initially, the urban transformation work, which began with a clear reason, such as the reactivation of the urban areas that were old or lost its function, then became a social crisis and the subject began to go out of the intention of the restructuring of the urban form. In this study, the urban transformation practices carried out in the world and in Turkey are studied by periods, especially in Turkey, the urban transformations in the last period, the "matematically-centric urban transformation" context, and various findings and suggestions have been tried to be revealed. The main reason for the use of the math-centric urban transformation expression is that it is possible to define the place of urban transformation studies for urban, social and environmental reasons as the evolution into the process of creating rent and producing economic value.

Özet:

The cities have been exposed to many demolitions due to war and natural disasters since their emergence. This situation caused the changes in the structures of the cities and the new forms of the city took their present form. In the last century, apart from the war and natural disasters, different developments took effect and the cities began to evolve within themselves. Within these developments these are; the rapid increase in urbanization, the difficulties in preserving environmental values, the incidence of immigration across all countries and the impact of globalization to the smallest settlement in the world. While the cities in our country are trying to find a new way for themselves under the pressure of all these processes, especially the urban transformation issue that has been on the agenda since the beginning of 2000’s has made the city structures even more complicated. In this sense, the experience of western urban transformation phenomenon, has found area of application at various times and locations in Turkey. In the beginning, after the urban transformation works started with an understandable reason such as transforming the old urban areas or losing their function and gaining efficiency again, it turned into a social crisis and the subject started to go beyond the intention of restructuring the urban form. In this study, the urban transformation projects carried out in the world and Turkey were examined with a nominal period. In particular, recent urban transformations that took place in Turkey is described in the frame of "mathematical centered urban transformation" and a variety of findings and recommendations were put forward. The main reason for the use of mathematical centered urban transformation; In urban transformation studies, the expression of urban, social and environmental reasons is replaced by the process of creating rent space and generating economic value.
