Bu araştırmada ilkokul ikinci sınıf İngilizce öğretim programının değerlendirilmesi amaçlanmıştır. Çalışma, aydınlatıcı program değerlendirme modelinden faydalanılarak tarama modelinde betimsel bir araştırma olarak tasarlanmıştır. Araştırma verileri tabakalama örneklem ile seçilen Türkiye’nin yedi bölgesindeki 14 ilde ikinci sınıf İngilizce dersine giren 768 öğretmenden ölçek yoluyla toplanmıştır. Ölçeğin birinci bölümünde öğretmenlere ilişkin demografik bilgiler, betimsel istatistikler kullanılarak, ikinci bölümünde ölçek maddelerine ilişkin öğretmen görüşleri yordayıcı istatistikler kullanılarak çözümlenmiştir. Üçüncü bölümde yer alan açık uçlu sorular ise betimsel analiz yoluyla incelenmiştir. Araştırma bulguları öğretmenlerin programın kazanım ve içerik ve öğrenme-öğretme süreci ve çevresel boyutun gerçekleşme durumunu yeterli düzeyde ancak ölçme ve değerlendirme boyutunu yetersiz düzeyde bulduklarını göstermiştir. Bunun yanı sıra, öğretmenlerin programa ilişkin görüşlerinde bölgeler arasında anlamlı farklılıklar bulunmuştur. Güneydoğu Anadolu ve Doğu Anadolu bölgelerinde görev yapan öğretmenlerin programın tüm boyutlarına ilişkin görüşleri diğer bölgelerde yaşayan öğretmenlerden anlamlı derecede olumsuz bulunmuştur. Ayrıca, öğretmenlerin büyük çoğunluğunun yeni uygulanmaya başlanan programa ilişkin hizmetiçi eğitim almadıkları ve ilkokul ikinci sınıf İngilizce dersine alan dışı giren birçok öğretmen olduğu belirlenmiştir. Bunun yanı sıra, öğretmen görüşlerinde mezun olunan yükseköğretim programına göre programın tüm boyutlarında İngilizce öğretmenliği ve diğer İngilizce bölümlerinden mezun olan öğretmenlerin görüşlerinin diğer yükseköğretim programlarından mezun olan öğretmenlerin görüşlerine göre anlamlı düzeyde daha olumlu olduğu saptanmıştır.
This study aims to evaluate the second-class English teaching program in primary school. The study is designed as an imaginary research in the scanning model, taking advantage of the lighting program assessment model. The research data was collected through the scale of 768 teachers who entered the second-class English course in 14 provinces in seven regions of Turkey selected with a layer sample. In the first part of the scale, the demographic information about teachers, using visual statistics, and in the second part, the teacher's opinions about the scale materials, with the use of statistics of the scale. The open end questions in the third section are examined through the visual analysis. Research findings have shown that teachers find the achievement of the program and the content and the learning-learning process and the environmental dimension at a sufficient level but the measurement and evaluation dimension at an insufficient level. In addition, the views of teachers on the program have found significant differences between the regions. The views of teachers working in the south-eastern and eastern Anadolu regions on all dimensions of the program have been significantly negative from teachers living in other regions. Moreover, it has been determined that the vast majority of teachers do not receive service education in relation to the newly implemented program and that there are many teachers entering the second-class English course in primary school. In addition, according to the higher education program graduated in teachers' opinions, the opinions of teachers graduated from English teaching and other English departments in all dimensions of the program have been found to be significantly more positive than the opinions of teachers graduated from other higher education programs.
The research aimed to evaluate primary school 2nd grade English language teaching curriculum. The study was designed as a descriptive survey study by utilizing illuminative curriculum evaluation model. The research data were collected via a scale from 768 teachers teaching 2nd grade classes in 14 cities of seven regions in Turkey selected through stratified sampling. In the first part of the scale, the demographic information related to teachers were analyzed through descriptive statistics and in the second part of the scale teachers’ views regarding the scale items were analyzed via inferential statistics. The open-ended questions in the third part of the scale were analyzed via descriptive analysis. The research findings indicated that teachers found the realization of aim and content dimension and learning-teaching process and contextual dimension sufficient; however, teachers believed the realization of measurement and assessment dimension was insufficient. Furthermore, statistically significant differences were found between regions according to teachers’ opinions related to the curriculum. Teachers working in South East and Eastern Anatolia regions had significantly negative views than the teachers working in other regions of Turkey regarding all the dimensions of the scale. Besides, it was found out that most of the teachers did not receive any in-service training about the new curriculum and many teachers from different fields taught primary school second grade English classes. Also, teachers who were graduates of English language teaching and other English departments had significantly positive views than teachers who graduated from another higher education program with regard to all dimensions of the scale.
