Abstract: “One Thousand and One Nights Tales ”(Arabian Nights) is a fairy tale anthology which is believed to continue 1001 nights and consisting 264 story with storytelling technique in a frame story. The stories proceed from this original tale; some are framed within other tales, while others begin and end of their own accord. Firstly Scheherazade, the narrator of tales and the hero of the frame story and other most important heroes of the stories are women. In some tales,women play roles taken from real life such as a daughter, a lover, a wife, a mother and an old woman. And they are characterized with positive qualities such as wisdom, to have political authority, to fall in love, being an ideal wife, belligerence, living in prosperity, farming and living sufi life. Contrary to this, some negative modifiers such as betraying to her husband, slyness, witchcraft, fraud, deceit, jealousy, pursuit of revenge, immorality and being fond of pleasure and entertainment emerge as the dominant character of women. Some women are portrayed characters such as demons, fairies, giants, wizards and witches in the clouds. During the tales, the protagonist of tales and narrator Scheherazade, efforts to frustrate initiatives which initiated by her husband Shahriar for female opposition, attempts to discredit women in a male-dominated society and succeeds this partially.
