Abstract:

Violence appears to us as a problem that often manifests itself within the social structure as a social epidemic of modern times and has many damages. Although all kinds and forms of violence are destructive, the kind against women also causes many individual and social problems. While violence is a social problem, it is also a source of many social problems. In this regard, the prevention of violence against women is a necessity in both micro and macro scale. There are many kinds of dimensions of violence against women, but the physical, verbal, sexual, economic and psychological dimensions that hurt women are the first to be thought. These kinds of violence, in addition to physical and psychological damage to the woman, bring life threats. In this study, 63 victims of violence who appealed to Ankara SHÖNIM were interviewed with women and the dimensions of violence against women were assessed from a sociological point of view. The study included the socio-demographic characteristics of women discussed, the types of violence they encounter, the process of violence and the attitudes and attitudes against the violence exposed. The study findings were analyzed and found that women who appealed to the center were exposed to more than one kind of violence and that violence behavior often began immediately after marriage. It has been found that women often do not attempt to take immediate caution and get rid of violence in the face of their behavior, and they continue to remain in the environment of violence for their children.
