Every society has the means and concern to protect its culture and values, to carry these values to the future generations via different tools and traditional children’s games are one of these tools with their culture carrier-educational- instructional content and practice. The fact that the traditional children’s games are collective conscience representative products by being fed from society’s values poems concerned makes it necessary to preserve these products more sensitively than yesterday in the face of popular culture items. The suppressing, ignoring, effacing effect, which faces traditional culture, of popular culture, in all aspects of our lives , results in drawbacks irrecoverable day by day on social dynamics. It is necessary to lay claim to the natural culture more than ever in the face of the artificial culture, which is consciously or unconsciously apt and in an effort to be engraved in the young minds in particular. In this direction, our study will be focused on the contribution of children’s games in the process of personal development in terms of values education. Considering most of what we have learned is learned from our relatives and environment, the traditional games, which come to life accompanied by symbols especially in childhood, become behavior over time; how much the traditional game culture is important in terms of child development is getting clearer. The traditional children’s games including a number of tangible or intangible messages regarding what is good, what is bad around the value judgments of the society lived in have an undisputed importance and mission in providing the ideal social order consisted of moral individuals. In our study which has a structure intended to analyze the functions the traditional children’s games perform in the affective and cognitive domain via six traditional children’s games, the function these games fulfill in terms of acquisition of values will be emphasized along with the general rules, playing style and content of the games concerned
