(An Approach With Multi Criteria For Evaluating Commercial Credit Applications: Comparison of Public And Private Banks) The purpose of this study is to compare criteria which take into account evaluation credit application for public and private banks and priorities of them. Selection of firms demanding commercial credit is a complex decision problem for banks. The bank takes a risk because the customer firm taking the credit might not pay it back. So banks should take into account a lot of tangible and intangible criteria for evaluating credit applications. In this study Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) was used on determining priorities of these criteria. Proposed model consisting of four criteria (financial, managerial, industrial and intelligence) was solved by using AHP for private and public banks, and results of two models were compared. Due to results of AHP, the most important main criterion on evaluating credit applications was financial criterion for public bank, but managerial and intelligent criterion for private bank.
