It is increasingly important that airlines have an important position in the transportation and logistics sector. Although the aviation sector is highly affected by economic events, political events and terrorist acts, the progress of the industry continues to increase. In parallel with the development of the international trade network in the world competitive market, the aviation sector is also gaining momentum. It is to increase airline profitability by obtaining high priority profit margins of airline companies in a competitive environment. The deregulation that took place in the aviation sector in the 1980s has facilitated sector entry by reducing state restrictions in the sector. However, the increase in the number of companies in the aviation sector has increased competition. The aviation industry's attainment of saturation has reduced the profitability of airlines. Airline operators that want to increase their profitability by reversing this situation implement different financial management strategies.. In this study, we investigate what financial strategies are used to increase the profitability of airline companies and which strategies Turkish Airlines has used to increase airline profitability. How profitability has changed from past to present, profitability ratios and future profitability targets of the airline have been revealed.
