The purpose of this study is to develop a tool that can be used in the definition of perceived deviance behaviors of academic personnel. Study group of the research consists of academic personnel working in different universities of Turkey. In order to assess structural validity of the scale explanatory factor analysis (EFA) and confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) were conducted. At the end of EFA, a structure consists of 26-items and four dimensions emerged. These dimensions are Deviance Behaviors related to Organizational Relations, Deviance Behaviors related to Organizational Processes, Deviance Behaviors related to Educational Activities, and Deviance Behaviors related to Research and Publishing. Four-dimension structure explains 66.00% of the total variance. The scale is five-point-likert ranging from “1-Never” to “5-Always”. The structure reached at the end of EFA was assessed via CFA. Results show that the scale has produced good fit indexes. The goodness of fit reached at the end of CFA are; χ2/sd = 3.89, RMSEA = .098, NFI = .86, NNFI = .88, CFI = .89, IFI = .89, RMR = .12, SRMR = .04. In order to assess the reliability of the scale; item total correlations, Cronbach Alpha internal consistency coefficients, means of upper and lower 27% groups were examined. Consequently, a reliable and valid, and psychometrically adequate assessment tool that can be used in the definition of perceived deviance behaviors of academic personnel was developed.
