Turkey is one of the rare countries rich in cultural heritage. These cultural heritages, which have witnessed to history, is individually valuable beside is valuable as a whole. Unfortunately, in Turkey, our cultural heritage does not see the value it deserves in the whole structure and in the single structure, and it seems that there are serious problems in transferring them to tomorrows. Over time, these tissues are being damaged or destroyed for various reasons. These tissues, which are difficult to transfer to the future, are also erased from the memories of our young people who are also our future. Uniquely the transfer to future generations of cultural heritage is a historical responsibility. Because of this responsibility, each individual should make an effort to preserve these values by being aware of their cultural values. Although the concept of cultural heritage has been tried to be conveyed to future generations in various ways, it is thought that the desired level has not been reached yet. For these reasons; purpose of the study, in context Mardin urban protected area, one of the textures where protection problems, are experienced, is to determine the consciousness levels for the preservation of the historical and cultural heritage of 7th grade primary school students living in Mardin. A questionnaire was used to collect the data of the study. The sample of the research is composed of three primary schools selected by random selection method in Mardin: one of them because of being located in the new urban texture; down mardin, one of them because of being located in historical texture; up Mardin and one of them because of the biggest district in Mardin; Kızıltepe. The study was conducted with the participation of 84 volunteer students selected from the 7th class students who were educated in selected elementary schools in the 2016-2017 academic year. The results of the questionnaires were analyzed in SPSS statistical program and frequency distributions were obtained and interpreted. The results of the survey on the awareness of the preservation of historical and cultural heritage have been shared. Several suggestions were made based on the results.
