Total quality management (TQM) is a model that raised during 1950s, began to be considered important in 1980s and became widespread all around the world in 1990s. This model has been discussed and criticized because of its some failures related with changing environmental conditions. The main reasons for these failures can be put in order as not to be able to internalize the principles of TQM, the top management not supporting the application of these principles and not open to new technologies, resistance of some conservative people, the reflections of social culture, plodding of big enterprises, differences in customer behavior, and local authorities’ view of quality (Demirkan, 1996). The purpose of this study is to determine the key factors that play an important role in the success of TQM. In this context the factors that allow for a successful application of TQM in organizations have been deeply examined. The method of the study is based on literature review and evaluation of secondary data. The research has pointed out that organizational culture, process management, top management support, organizational structure are very important for TQM to applied successfully in organizations
