The purpose of this paper is to study the inflation targeting strategy in a general framework as a primary tool to fight with the inflation which has become a chronic problem especially in developing countries and to evaluate its practice in Turkey. This study also covers the practices and responsibility areas of central banks which carry the inflation targeting strategy. The study signifies the meaning of inflation targeting, its basics, preconditions, advantages and disadvantages and the examples of developed country experiences. This study also examines the details of Turkish inflation targeting strategy and its consequences by different angles
