The purpose of this quantitative research is to investigate teachers` perceptions about the teaching of first-level geometry according to the levels of van Hiele model. The data was gathered from the teachers of grades 1,2,3,4 and 5 in a private school in Ankara by using observation technique and examined corresponding to fenomenografik analysis. The primary findings of this research are the followings;The teachers paid attention to relating geometry teaching with real life applications, They taught lessons with activities based on their own experiences. They did not place drawing enough. Only the teacher of the 5th grades can use the activities based on comparing and exploring effectively whereas the other teachers do not prefer such activities
