Abstract:

Together with the announcement of Tanzimat, innovation has also occurred in the field of education, for the first time civil schools that provide Western style education have opened teaching schools to train teachers in these schools. In this period and afterwards, various guidelines were prepared for teachers to use modern methods. In this article, one of these guidelines was discussed in the 1299 (1881/1882) published "Hoca's Vazifesi". I doubt the author’s name. The author of the work is Assad in the National Library catalogue (http://kasif.mkutup.gov.tr/SonucDetay.aspx?MakId=1098280), and in foreign catalogue A. The text was translated into today's Turkish and the original text was added to the end of the work. It consists of the entrance and two sections. In the introduction section it is emphasized that teaching should be done not for a commercial profit but for a good service. The first part is entitled "Hüsn-ü Moral and Administration" and in general discusses the importance of the teacher's behavior and some moral characteristics that the teacher should bear in the development of children. The second part is called "Suret-i Tedris". This section discusses the teachers’ approaches that will fit the children and the teaching methods they use.
