The folk culture that is the basic character of today’s plastic arts provided a society –specific creation process by affecting the forms of artistic expression. It is difficult to associate the similar art events one-to-one that are developing in a geographical and cultural environment far from each other. It is a common knowledge that the Western Modern Artists were influenced by and also made use of the Eastern Artists (Japanese woodcuts of Wincent Van Gogh, Eastern Islamic miniatures of Henri Matisse, Chinese Philosophy and Far East Calligraphy of Mark Tobey, and again the calligraphy of Paul Klee). However the purpose in this study is not to document the interaction. The basic point to be emphasized is to make the similar reaction by the person realizing the action, that is, by the artist, in her/his instinctive approaches in the different geographies and different cultural environments within the period of historical process and to realize similar artistic events. When making this synthesis, it is required to discuss today’s modern art movements, sources and problems ideationally. Development steps of the Western Art in the modern sense and application of modern and abstract art reached within the successive period bear an amazing resemblance to visual and intellectual points of Islamic Art. The example that could be most discussed in respect of the maximum similarity with the Western Art either in direction of application methods or materials used within the Islamic Art is the marbling art. In this context, the Western Modern art and Turkish marbling art bear qualifications that could be referred in respect of plastic.
