Abstract:

The language teaching and learning process is very important, and it is not a set of easy steps. Each language has its own structure, pronunciation and spelling. Linguistics should play a very important role in the language teaching process because linguistics informs the language teaching process. Linguistics illuminates and diagnoses difficulties in this process and these problems can be dealt with phonetically, morphologically, syntactically and semantically. The linguistic structures of first language/mother tongue (L1) affect the second language learning process. Thus, this study is about how linguistics may reveal and remedy problems in teaching a second or other additional language.
