Italo Calvino is one of the most important authors in the 20th Century Italian Literature. The author, whose many works was translated into Turkish, brought in many works containing many different from Neorealism to Postmodernism. If on a winter’s night a traveler, Invisible Cities, Marcovaldo or the Seasons in the City are his the most popular works. In his Six Memos for the Next Millennium that was first published after his death in 1988, Italian author explains the faith on the future of literature under six titles on the frequent inquiries about the destiny of literature and book in the post-industrial technologic era. In this study, Lightness, which is the first title in Six Memos for the Next Millennium in which he presents six proposals about the development literature in the next thousand years, is tried to explain through Calvino’s story called a Plunge into Real Estate that was published in 1963.
