Industrialization which is a social, economical, political and cultural process, is the most important activity that enables countries to reach economic power. Industrialization in Turkey has been ongoing under the effects of regional problems and global economic crisis. The industry sector in the recent years has undergone a fast improvement and the changes that emerged are quite interesting. In the research, the extent of the changes in the industry sector has been considered with a geographical perspective. In the working population, the ratio of those working in the industry sector rose from 26,8 % in 2006 to 27,2 % in 2015. In Gross National Product, the share of industry sector decreased from 24,8 % to 23,4%. Whereas the share of the manufacturing industry in the exports (1000 USD) increased at the rate of 83,2%, the share of exports in the electric, gas and water sectors decreased at the rate of -28,1%. The changes in the world economy affect the goals and spheres of influence of industry policies in Turkey. Whereas “industrialization” was the primary goal in the years before, today the main aim of the adopted policies is increasing the “competitive power.”
