The purpose of this study is to analyse Türk Yavrusu, a children's journal written in Ottoman Turkish. Türk Yavrusu was a journal for children which was first published in 26 September 1329 (6 October 1913). The director manager was Gündüz Alp and Turkish Library undertook the administration. Its content was not rich and the aim of this journal was to produce texts about science, art, literature and some contents about lessons to school-going children. Authors expressed that the purpose of Türk Yavrusu was to improve students’ mental capacity but the journal had texts not only for students but also for adults. The journal seems to have been published for engraining national consciousness in children. Türk Yavrusu is the first journal which used the word “Turk” as a name. We have only first and second issues of Türk Yavrusu. There is no information about the existence of other issues.
