Teaching is one of the most important professions that direct the course of a society. In order to fulfillment of teaching, which is a certain specialty occupation, certain qualifications must be owned.These competencies are collected under six headings knowledge by Ministry of Education as personal and Professional development, student recognition, teaching and learning process, monitoring and evaluation, school-family-community relationships, programs and content. The purpose ofthis study is to determine the opinions of teacher candidates about the strengths and the weaknesses of their teaching competencies and their views on the opportunities and challenges of their qualifications for teaching. The scanning model which is not intended to set out any relation with situation was used for this research. It was conducted by 47 senior Classroom Teacher candidates. Thedata collected by Teacher Candidates' Views on Professional Competencies Questionnaire consistsof 20 open-ended questions. Content analysis method was used to analyze the data and codes werecreated for relevant themes and sub-themes. The most frequent codes are specified as taking thestudent development features and individual differences to account, the implementation of educational programs in weaknesses theme, technological opportunities in opportunities theme, unconscious and low socio-economic status of parents in obstacles theme
