The muslim scholars, beginning from early ages, used many methods to facilitate teaching students sciences. One of these methods was to turn the basic rules of a branche of the sciences into poetry. In this way, it is aimed that students learn the main arguments by memorising the verses. One of these verses is the work of Egyptian scholar al-Tabalâvî named “Nazm al-istiâra”. The article consists of four sections, after an introduction that deals with the poetric works. The first section deals with the life of alTabalâvî, the second section examines his works. The third section deals with “Nazm al-istiâra” and its commentaries. The fourth section takes up the critical edition of “Nazm al-istiâra”.
