The purpose of the study is to investigate the ideas of 5th grade students regarding friends and friendship accrding to sociometric status and academic achievement The study was conducted among 528 students attending 5th grades Study data were obtained using Peer Beliefs Scale and interview form According to the results there was no correlation among the ideas of students on their friends sociometric status and academic achievement but it was found some differences on some aspects of friendship perception according to academic achievement It was determined that successful students can make friends easily and their friendship relations are better relatively Moreover most frequently they refered to themselves with positive features such as being reliable successful intelligent cheerful amiable Key Words: Friendship Relationship Sociometric Status Academic Achievement Peer Relations
