In this research it was investigated that whether the humor styles of teachers self enhancing humor affiliative humor aggressive humor and self defeating humor who work in secondary education schools show difference or not according to their level of learned resourcefulness and their gender In 2004 2005 education year total 606 teachers that 295 of them were males and and 311 females who work in Seyhan and Yüreğir which are the towns of Adana were included in the concept of the investigation The data about the humor styles of teachers was obtained by using “Rosenbaum’s Self Control Schedule” improved by Rosenbaum 1980 and translated into Turkish by Siva and Dağ 1991 and the data about the level of learned resourcefulness of teachers was obtained by using “Humor Styles Questionnaire”; improved by Martin Puhlik–Doris Larsen Grey And Weir 2003 and translated into Turkish by Yerlikaya 2003 Data about the other variables was obtained with “Personel Information Form” Multivariate analysis of variance was applied in the analysis of data The error portion in the research was accepted as 05 According to the obtained findings It was seen that there was a significant difference on all scores of humor styles for the level of learned resourcefulness of teachers who work in secondary education For the aspect of learned resourcefulness according to the results of Scheffe test that was carried out to examine the reason of the differences between the groups the scores of teachers who had avarage and high level of learned resourcefulness for their style of self enhancing humor affiliative humor aggressive humor and self defeating humor were higher than the teachers who had low level of learned resourcefulness Furthermore when the main affect of gender as an independent variable was examined on the scores of humor styles it was seen that the main affect of this variable made no significant difference and besides common affect of learned resourcefulness and gender was not meaningful on the scores of humor styles Key Words: Humor Styles Learned Resourcefulness Gender
