Özet:

The main purpose this research is to find out if there is a significant difference in writing anxiety level of elementary school students in terms of various variables This research which was conducted through relational screening model has a sampling of students who were selected from six classes in one elementary school in each central province of Çukurova Yüreğir and Sarıçam in Adana In other words sampling consists of students from six 6th grade six 7th grade and six 8th grade and in total 611 students “Personal Information Form” and “Writing Anxiety Scale” was used as data collection tool in this research When the findings of the research were analyzed the writing anxiety of the students differs according to their class level In three levels of the classes it was found out that the class with the highest anxiety level is the 6th graders and the class with the lowest anxiety level is the 8th graders When the data were analyzed according to students’ daily book reading habits the students who read books in daily basis have lower writing anxiety level comparing to those who do not read at all When the data were analyzed according to the freedom of selecting the writing topic it was observed that the students who have the freedom to choose their writing topic has lower writing anxiety level comparing to those who cannot choose Furthermore the writing anxiety of the students also differs according to the time they were given for writing and the students who thinks the writing time was sufficient has lower anxiety level comparing to those who does not think the time was sufficient Keywords: Language skills writing skill writing anxiety
